Oculyze Better Brewing - Yeast cell concentration & viability

Yeast cell concentration & viability

The Better Brewing (BB) app analyzes the same sample volume as in a counting chamber (hemocytometer) but is at least 10x faster.

With the integrated separation of clumped cells we can ensure absolute accurate results. Budding cells are also automatically identified and provided as a separate value. A specific graph will show you the distribution of cell sizes.

When using a sample stained with Methylene Violet, the app can also differentiate between living and dead yeast cells to determine your yeast’s viability together with your yeast concentration.

Oculyze Better Brewing - Pitch rate calculator

Pitch rate calculator

The Better Brewing (BB) app includes a pitch rate calculator which automatically uses your concentration and viability results to help you determine the ideal pitch rate for your next batch.

You can input the volume of your wort and your desired final concentration (the calculator also provides suggested values) OR you can insert the desired degree plato and pitch  rate.

The result will then show you which volume of yeast is needed to add to your wort.

Oculyze Better Brewing - Fermentation tracking

Fermentation Tracking

The Better Brewing (BB) App offers the possibility to get an overview of your fermentations via a detailed graph that comprises the results of the different measurements you’ve taken for yeast concentration and yeast viability. You can initiate a new tracking for each fermentation, and to each tracking you can add as many analyses as necessary.

The Fermentation Tracking feature allows you to compare the fermentation process of different batches, helping you achieve consistency and providing valuable insights on whether your yeast grows at an optimal rate, the quality of the fraction of slurry that was collected for repitching, or when a new generation of yeast is needed.

By determining the normal curve of fermentation, you will know exactly what to expect from each batch. This means less stress over sticking to the production schedule and, of course, cost savings by optimizing the tank occupancy time.

Oculyze Better Brewing - Automated & customized documentation

Automated & customized documentation

In the Better Brewing (BB) app you can add custom tags and comments to your measurements. This helps you to structure and sort your results and support your workflows in the best way possible.

The entire documentation will be generated automatically and uploaded to our cloud system. This enables you to get access to your complete history of analyses via the mobile app or even with our web app at any time, from anywhere.

Using our web app will also allow you to export all your data in a CSV file or generate custom reports as a PDF document.

Oculyze Better Brewing - Reliable results, every time

Reliable results, everytime

The Better Brewing (BB) app has built in tools which make it easy to use with minimal training. The actual analysis is made by an algorithm and 100% reproducible no matter who is using the device.

Our sharpness indicator helps guide you to capture sharp images for the yeast analysis even if you have never handled a microscope before.

The app will also give you a warning if it detects any inconsistencies during the analysis due to inhomogeneous samples or when the concentration is outside of the measuring range.
