Our microscope has a magnification of ~400X and allows for the visualization of objects less than 10µm. If you measure in an undiluted sample, the optimal range is 8.5×10⁵ – 3.5×10⁷ cells/ml (0,85 Mio. – 350 Mio). A sample of a healthy cow usually contains mainly endometrial cells and only very few inflammatory cells (PMNs). In contrast, a sample from a cow suffering from subclinical or cytological endometritis contains a lot of inflammatory cells. From day 21 p.p., subclinical or cycological endometritis is confirmed when a sample with at least 300 cells contains more than 5% PMNs. In the MUH App, those cells will be automatically highlighted in red. Usually, 10-20 images are required to be able to classify cows as healthy or sick. However, cows with a very high amount of inflammatory cells (e.g. clinical cases) may be already diagnosed after only a few images.

The actual quantification of cells is done within seconds. The whole analysis process, including sample staining and image capturing, takes on average 5 minutes. However, the time needed for taking a sample can vary and highly depends on the experience of the person taking the sample and the anatomy of the cow.

We recommend testing not before day 21 p.p. (as inflammatory cells are part of the physiological recovery after calving) and as close to the anticipated insemination day as possible. It might also make sense to match the sampling with other check ups that are regularly being performed on your farm. Additionally, repeat breeders should be considered to be checked right before insemination.

The sampling process is the most critical part of the analysis and might require some training. However, veterinarians or persons experienced in A.I. should be able to take a sample easily. The analysis of the sample can be done by everyone on the farm as there is no expert knowledge required.

When you subscribe to one of our monthly subscription plans you have a minimum commitment of 12 months. After that you can cancel your subscription any time.

You can switch to a larger plan any time. However, the upgrade will only apply starting the following month. Your upgraded plan will have again a minimum commitment of 12 months.

You can only switch to a smaller plan after your minimum commitment has passed. After that you can switch any time. However, the downgrade will only apply starting the following month. Your downgraded plan will have again a minimum commitment of 12 months.

For monthly payments, you will get an invoice for the subscription fee at the beginning of each month. Additional analyses you have used on top of your plan will be invoiced together with the subscription fee of the following month. For annual payments you will receive the invoice once a year on the date when the plan was started.

All included analyses will expire at the end of the month. There is no option to transfer any unused analyses into following months.

If you need more analyses within a month than what’s included in your plan we will charge you an extra fee per additional analyses. Those additional analyses will be invoiced the following month.

Each package has an expiration time of 12 months. After this time all unused analyses will become void. There is no option to transfer any unused analyses into following the following season.
